Altar -
The sound of welsh hymns and choirs emerges
from the past, hissing and crackling, repeating
fragments, shifting and merging to create
new uncertain rhythms. Using old record
players and old recordings, the music is
fragmented and reformed.

Timing
- Timing is one of a series of
three short films, the others being ‘Flowdrops’
and ‘Time Adrift’. The title
alludes to the notion of being in a particular
place and time while also referring to the
subject and processes within the films.
They present unique moments and natural
phenomena and through processing , attempt
to delay or disrupt the usual flow of time,
to extend that moment into the infinite,
encouraging contemplation and awareness.
They represent something of a departure
from my usual practice, while maintaining
an interest in experimental sound and the
subversion of traditional narrative structure.

three)

Capeli:Capel Crannog - This DVD documents GWRANDO’s two-week residency at capel Crannog, Llangrannog, a site-specific investigation into the role of the chapel in the communities, culture and landscape of Wales. A group of artists created work in response to the site and also created ways for the community to participate, setting up a temporary choir, open music sessions, interactive games, and opportunities to help document the project. ’The
Main Event’ includes excerpts from
Jacob Whittaker’s ‘Pererin Digidol’,
as well as performances by the temporary
choir and the ‘abstract and beautiful’
collaborative work by Lou Laurens and Jacob
Whittaker. This was followed on the night
by a sequence of short films. Included here
are 9 films made during and after the residency.
